Hi Zenith Catcher, Imagine you’re running a small business—maybe a local online store. Sales are decent, but you’re feeling overwhelmed and things aren’t scaling as you’d hoped. What would Elon Musk suggest you do? First, question your goals. Why exactly are you running this business? Is it to create financial freedom, build something meaningful, or just pay the bills? Second, delete unnecessary tasks. Are there things you’re doing just because “everyone else does”? Maybe you’re managing multiple social media accounts that bring no meaningful results, or offering products that don’t sell well. Cut those out immediately. Third, optimize. Find what’s already working well and double down on it. If one product sells particularly well, focus more resources on promoting that. If email marketing brings great returns, invest in improving those campaigns. Fourth, accelerate your timelines. Ask yourself how you could achieve your current goals in a fraction of the time. Perhaps you could automate parts of your sales process, outsource routine tasks, or implement better software to speed things up significantly. “If you give yourself 30 days to clean your home, it will take you 30 days. But if you give yourself 3 hours, it will take 3 hours. The same applies to your goals, ambitions, and potential.” — Elon Musk
Finally, automate. Once you’ve streamlined your operations, delegate tasks, use automation tools, or hire help. Your business should eventually run efficiently without constant oversight, freeing your time for bigger opportunities. Here’s that simple framework again:
Hormozi beautifully summarized how this framework applies to improving anything in life:
Shoutout to Alex Hormozi for capturing it perfectly. Apply this framework, and maybe your business and life will significantly improve. Inspiring Things This Week:Podcast: One person who really inspires me to be more productive is Professor Cal Newport. This week, I revisited an older podcast episode where he chats with Tim Ferriss, the author of The 4-Hour Workweek. They discuss living a deep life and the role of religion. You can listen to it here. Productivity Hack: Parkinson’s Law basically says that work expands to fill the time you give it. In other words, if you give yourself the whole day for a task, it’ll likely take all day. But if you set a tight deadline, you’ll finish it quicker. Here’s a personal example: During my undergrad days, whenever I had the whole day free to study, I somehow ended up learning less. But on days when I had a tight deadline—like an appointment coming up—I was able to get the same amount done way faster. Deadlines make you focus! Quote of the Week:“Life really does begin at forty. Up until then, you are just doing research”
