Hi Zenith Catcher, “The three big decisions – what you do, where you live, and who you’re with.” – Naval Ravikant, Entrepreneur and Investor
This week, I kept thinking about a quote from Naval. He said there are three big decisions in life: what you do, where you live, and who you’re with. First, what you do. This mainly comes down to what job or career you pursue. Do you work for someone else or build your own business? You spend the majority of your lifetime working, so it’s worth choosing carefully. And I think what you do goes beyond just work. It’s also about your daily habits. Do you work out? What kind of food do you eat? How do you spend your free time? All of these daily actions shape your life too. Second, where you live. This has a huge impact on how you feel day to day. Do you prefer a calm, rural area? Or do you want the energy and opportunities of a city? Rural areas give you peace, space, and nature. Cities offer more people, accessibility, and chances to network or grow a business. And third, who you’re with. Mainly, your spouse or significant other. Choosing who to build a life with is massive. “The person you spend the rest of your life with will have the largest impact on who you become, what you achieve, and how happy you are. But most people spend more time deciding what car to buy or neighborhood they’re going to live in than the person they’re gonna marry.”
– Alex Hormozi, Entrepreneur
And beyond that, it’s about your family and the friends you let into your life. A good question I like to ask: Does having this person in my life increase or decrease the chances of reaching my goals? Can I tell them bad news and they’ll listen? Can I tell them good news and they’ll be happy for me? Those are a few thoughts around each of the three big decisions. Choose wisely. Telling the Truth This week, I also thought a lot about two quotes from Jordan B. Peterson. The first one: “You should be afraid of saying what you think, but you should be a lot more afraid of hiding.” I think that’s very accurate. Speaking your truth can feel scary. But the alternative — hiding, staying silent, building resentment — is way worse. It slowly eats you up from the inside. The second quote: “Bad things happen when good men hold their tongue.” This one also hits hard, especially in today’s world. Sometimes speaking up is uncomfortable. But staying silent can cause even bigger problems over time. 2. Improving my Podcast This week, I also spent some time thinking about how to improve my podcast. In the future, I plan to bring on more guests again. I came across a priority list from Chris Williamson, who runs a very successful podcast. According to him, here’s the order of what matters most: First, the quality of your guests. I think that’s super important to remember. Nail the basics first before worrying about fancy equipment or tech. All of that matters too — but it’s secondary. The masters never skip the basics. Quote of the Week:“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.”
